Return of the primitive
The inherent feature of Globalist agenda in The Great Reset of Klaus Schwab
The WEF Globalist agenda of the “Great Reset” for deindustrialization and depopulation that is at play in the West and imposed upon the developing countries of the global south has been accelerated by the war in Ukraine. But this agenda remains unfocused in public discussions due to the obvious and deliberate failing of the mainstream media to inform and educate the public.
This agenda has been long in the making and opposition to the agenda has been marginalized by the ruling elite. The winners and losers of this agenda has also been obvious – the winners being the small elite segment of the global population, and the losers being most of the people herded and cajoled by fears of economic downturns, wars, pandemics, and natural calamities to which the people in general are hopelessly vulnerable.
This agenda at its core is a return to the pre-industrial state, of turning back the advance of history through science and technology that raised the global standard of living and life expectancy over the past some 15 decades for the global population.
This return to the pre-industrial state because of the anti-industrial revolution embraced by the elite in the West was predicted by the Russian born and American domiciled novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-82).
Ayn Rand’s prediction in a series of essays she wrote in the late sixties was most remarkable. Let me quote from her essay, “The Anti-Industrial Revolution” (published in 1971, and republished in the book of her collected essays on the subject titled Return of the Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution edited by Peter Schwartz and published in 1999):
In order to survive, man has to discover and produce everything he needs, which means that he has to alter his background and adapt it to his needs. Nature has not equipped him for adapting himself to his background in the manner of animals. From the most primitive cultures to the most advanced civilizations, man has had to manufacture things; his well-being depends on his success at production. The lowest human tribe cannot survive without that alleged source of pollution: fire. It is not merely symbolic that fire was the property of the gods which Prometheus brought to man. The ecologists are the new vultures swarming to extinguish that fire (emphasis in bold letters I have added).
And extinguishing that fire, I might add, returns man to the primeval state of nature in preparation for his demise that would then restore Mother Earth or Gaia, the Greek goddess of earth and nature, in her original virginal state of barrenness before she was violated by Zeus, the supreme Greek god and progenitor of god and man.
Fire is a symbol of tools man derives from nature or steals knowledge from gods to shape them in the struggle against odds for survival, and then makes of the natural environment around him out of his labour into an imagined version of the “Garden of Eden” from which he was expelled, as he tells himself the story of his fall, for disobeying or rebelling against the commands of the Creator or the Master Craftsman of the universe. Man’s inventiveness with tools he crafts is mimetic in his sub-consciousness of the Creator in whose image he imagines he was formed.
Man’s inventiveness points to the original creativity in its plenitude of the Creator of the universe. And as man mimics the Master Craftsman in his rise from the slime of raw nature, human progress is represented by man’s acquisition of tools increasingly more and more complex from the first simple ones he shaped to survive in the hostile environment of nature in which he was by birth the most vulnerable, as prey to creatures with sharper claws, fangs, and teeth and more massive skeletons of bones and muscles. Man’s origin at birth was over-burdened with risks of survival, and it has so remained even as man has reached for the stars and decoded the chemical mystery of his own physical composition.
Ironically the most severe challenge man continues to confront in his survival and progress comes not from nature but from man himself. He is split within himself between the one half endowed with inventiveness that mimics the Master Craftsman, and its opposite that is in the perpetual state of disapproval or denial of the qualities required to be inventive. It is this opposite half of inventiveness that strives to snuff out the fire as tool needed for man to survive and progress.
The dialectics or opposition between the two contrary tendencies within man Ayn Rand discussed in her essay “Apollo and Dionysus” included in the book Return of the Primitive. These two tendencies distinguished as Apollonian and Dionysian are also two archetypical states of mind drawn from Greek mythology engaged in perpetual conflict. Both gods Apollo and Dionysus are sons of Zeus from different mothers and so are half-brothers representing the two oppositional tendencies embedded within man.
Apollo and Dionysus respectively signify the dichotomy, as Ayn Rand discussed, of reason versus emotion.
It was Nietzsche who observed in his The Birth of Tragedy from the Spirit of Music, according to Ayn Rand, “two opposite elements in Greek tragedies, which he saw as metaphysical principles inherent in the nature of reality; he named them after two Greek gods: Apollo, the god of light, and Dionysus, the god of wine.”
Apollo stands for rationality, order, logic, discipline, suppression of licentiousness, hence sanity.
Dionysus stands for irrationality, chaos, drunkenness, licentiousness, hence insanity.
When the two essays of Ayn Rand that I have mentioned, “The Anti-Industrial Revolution” and “Apollo and Dionysus” are read together, the stunningly remarkable prescience of her writing from half century ago illuminates the insanity of the “woke” ideology that is sweeping across the West and is shredding the founding values of 1776 that went into the making of the American republic. Here is what Ayn Rand observed:
One of the paradoxes of our age is the fact that the intellectuals, the politicians and all the sundry voices that choke, like asthma, the throat of our communications media have never gasped and stuttered so loudly about their devotion to the public good and about the people’s will as the supreme criterion of value—and never have they been so grossly indifferent to the people. The reason, obviously, is that collectivist slogans serve as a rationalization for those who intend, not to follow the people, but to rule it. There is, however, a deeper reason: the most profound breach in this country [i.e., the United States of America] is not between the rich and the poor, but between the people and the intellectuals. In their view of life, the American people are predominantly Apollonian; the “mainstream” intellectuals are Dionysian.
This means: the people are reality-oriented, commonsense-oriented, technology-oriented (the intellectuals call this “materialistic” and “middle class”); the intellectuals are emotion-oriented and seek, in panic, an escape from a reality they are unable to deal with, and from a technological civilization that ignores their feelings.
Civilization as order is fragile and, relatively speaking, one step removed from disorder and dissolution. The making and preservation of civilization is hard disciplined labour, and it requires of man to suppress his Dionysian tendencies. This is what breeds discontent that Freud probed in Civilization and its Discontents, and intellectuals, especially journalists, feed off discontents and professionally thrive on them. The inherently seditious nature of “woke” ideology gone rampant is war against commonsense and morality; it is nihilism and licentiousness wrapped in the opaque language of the academia to give it undeserving respectability in public discourse.
In the triumph of Dionysian sentiments that the August 1969 Woodstock bacchanalian orgy of free sex and drugs represented, as rock-n-roll music festival, lurked the murder of the Apollo man and the civilization built by his rational mind. The Dionysian culture of chaos and death fifty years after Woodstock has been brought out of the closet by the World Economic Forum as a global policy directive and a manifesto, The Great Reset of Klaus Schwab, for depopulation and deindustrialization through release of gain-of-function driven lab-made virus as bioweapons resulting in pandemics and mass casualty, and by shutting down use of hydrocarbon fuel through reaching net-zero carbon emission bringing minimally economic recessions and decline in agriculture and manufacturing with growth in unemployment. The endgame is surrendering to Gaia, goddess of nature, and embracing redemption through oblivion in return of the primitive.
The video below released by Robert Vaughan of Just Right Media is a conversation Robert engaged with me on the present rampant disorder in domestic and global politics that we are experiencing in Canada and across the West at an accelerating pace by recalling Ayn Rand.
